News8 deсember 2011A Seminar to Discuss Results of the Road Safety ProjectA seminar to analyse the results on two road safety campaigns will be held tomorrow at the Headquarters of the Ukrainian Road Police Inspectorate on Lukyanivskaya 62. Two information campaigns urging drivers to wear seat belts and to cut down speed that were implemented by the pilot project this summer in Odessa Region, resulted in 30% reduction of deaths in the road accidents. This outcome was achieved by a relatively small investment (EUR 20,000) in the information dissemination effort on social media networks. Если кратко, это во-первых, стратегия развития транспортной отрасли Украины, которая была разработана в рамках нашего проекта и утверждена правительством Украины в конце 2010 года. Як добре відомо усім, хто цікавиться розвитком цивільної авіації України 19 травня цього року відбулася знакова подія, а саме, Верховною Радою України було прийнято нову редакцію Повітряного Кодексу України. Велика кількість фахівців державних органів, громадських організацій, громадяни і експерти України та інших країн доклали значних зусиль для того, щоб довгий та тривалий шлях від проекту до нового Кодексу виявився вдалим. Варто зазначити, що Повітряний кодекс, як основне авіаційне законодавство країни, встановлює правові основи діяльності в галузі авіації, визначає державне регулювання діяльності в галузі авіації та використання повітряного простору України як спрямоване на гарантування безпеки авіації, забезпечення інтересів держави, національної безпеки та потреб суспільства і економіки у повітряних перевезеннях та авіаційних роботах. 18 october 2011Ярослав Білий, заступник менеджера проекту TEM-T, розповів о програме секторальної бюджетної підтримки. 18 october 2011Manager of the project Support to the Integration of Ukraine in the Trans-European Network TEN-T gave an interview to the correspondent of the e-newspaper “Levij Bereg”(LB.ua) Andriy Yanitskyi on 18 October about his work and the perspectives of the Ukrainian transport sector.
The reform of transport sector is not to be limited by changing a plate on a functionary’s cabinet door Alan Gaudry works in Ukraine since 2004. Ukraine is already a 38th country, where he helps to develop transport infrastructure. Having received education of a professional railroad manager, he has worked both for the Ministry of transport of France and at the Systra transport company. Eastern European countries are his specialisation. Alan considers each country’s transport system is unique. «Copy-paste does not work there. Each country has to find a recipe to develop its transport», – says the expert.

P.P. What are the major issues as regards the investment climate for international Public-Private Partnership-projects? J.S. There are several of course. First of all, Ukraine has to cope with the problematic economic climate as all countries have to. But the Ukraine economy has its own context. In the presentation I referred to the economic structure, with two key sectors: iron ore & metal and agriculture, the position of Ukraine in relation to Russia and the EU, the national debt, the pressure on the Hrivnia and corruption. And with respect to international public private partnerships (PPPs) there are some specific issues, such as the legal framework, the rule of law and the currency- and financial risks for foreign investors.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved 16 regulatory-legal acts regarding modernisation and development of the railway transport and improvement of social standards for the employees of the sector. Correspondent decisions have been taken today, December 16, during the meeting of the Government and All-Ukrainian forum of the railway of Ukraine where the Prime-Minister of Ukraine Yulia Timoshenko took part as well as first deputy Minister of MTCU Vasyl Shevchenko, Director General of Ukrazaliznitsia Mihaylo Kostiuk, manager of the central bodies of executive branch of power, workers of the railway transport of Ukraine and others.
Representatives of the MoTC and Ministry of Industrial Policy discussed providing the Ukrainian cities that will host Euro 2012 with new buses.
